Draft Roadmap

The project contains these main activities:

  1. Integration of itools & the Translate Toolkit - Reduce the functional overlap of itools and the Translate Toolkit: itools will serve as a technology foundation for the Translate Toolkit, while the internationalisation features provided today by itools will be moved to the Translate Toolkit.
  2. Specification & documentation - This includes: the description of the final functional scope, the API specification, and the test suite that will validate the command line interface and the library code.
  3. ODF (itools.odf) - Support for Open Document Format version 1.1 (version 1.2 is expected to become an OASIS standard around September 2008, too late for this project).
  4. XLIFF and PO (Translate Toolkit) - Support for Gettext PO, and XLIFF versions 1.1 and 1.2.
  5. The Command Line Interface (Translate Toolkit) - A command line interface will implement the translation format conversion.
  6. Dissemination - Public releases of the software and announcements in the ODF, OpenOffice.org and FOSS communities.
